STAIRCASE RENOVATION AND SKIRTING
The staircase for this beautiful Edwardian property in Chorleywood was situated in the middle of a large hallway. The client wanted to keep the banister and intricate design but was unhappy with the existing bulky spindles and the shape of the bottom step which wasn’t in keeping with the period features of the house.
We sourced, painted and installed new spindles for the entire staircase from the ground floor to the 1st and 2nd floor of the house. We also built a bull nose for the bottom step to make it more balanced in size and in keeping with the property’s style.
We also handmade and installed new Edwardian style coving and skirting throughout the hallway.
Services used:
- Removal of old spindles
- Sanding of old paintwork
- Re-creation of new bullnose
- Sourcing of new spindles
- Installation of spindles for ground, 1st and 2nd floor
- Painting
- Handmade Edwardian design skirting throughout hallways and 1st and 2nd floor hallways
MORE PHOTOS FROM THIS PROJECT
“Our staircase has been transformed by MPG Bespoke’s carpenters – the bull nose is perfect and the new handmade and hand painted spindles, installed by the team, from the ground floor to the 1st and 2nd floor really make a feature of the staircase”
